MovieBloc, abbreviated as MBL, is a reverse Initial Coin Offering (ICO) project initiated by the Korean video streaming platform Pandora.tv. It is a decentralized platform for film and content distribution. With its blockchain-based approach, MovieBloc aims to solve the existing problems in the cinema and home entertainment sector caused by the dominance of large corporations.
Through this technology, filmmakers will receive a transparent share of the revenues and gain access to audience data. In addition, it allows them to present their works on an equal footing with others. On the other hand, viewers can discover a variety of films and content and be rewarded for their contributions to the community, such as creating subtitles or marketing materials.
The use of MBL tokens plays a crucial role in the entire ecosystem. These are used for economic activities like watching premium content or donating to other participants. Likewise, users who report illegal content or write film reviews are rewarded with $MBL. More than 100 films and series have been presented on the platform.
MovieBloc aims to become the largest film ecosystem, heavily based on active participants. To this end, the company acquired "Cobak" in February 2020, a crypto community service in Korea that offers, among other things, a crypto wallet, real-time ticker, and token sale services.
